Diary

Mon 4th July

Tonight is first aid training, or casualty care training, as we must now refer to it. We have a set of scenarios, with three casualties in each scenario. My group goes in first, with Darts and Doms Mike being party leader. He allocates each team member to a casualty, where we do an initial assessment and report back. I get Lofty, who has just fallen off a rock and now has a chest pain. He's talking to me, which gives me what turns out to be mis-placed confidence in his state of health. After some more investigation, it turns out that Lofty has had Cardiac Tampanard. I'm not sure whether this is the correct spelling or if I'm confusing it with Italian antipasto. This is essentially a cardiac arrest brough on the the fall. Sadly, Lofty dies whilst we're waiting for the defib and evacuation.

I'm somewhat relieved to find that the other group has equal difficulty with this rather unusual and tricky scenario.

The rest of July

I'm delighted to report that I left the team to do their rope rescue training and Brookside Garden Centre collection whilst I went to the Alps for a couple of weeks high level hut tour!
