From Everest Basecamp to Hayfield ….
Back in March we reported on the forthcoming trip of two local adventurers, Susannah and Philippa, who were heading to Nepal in April for a two-week trek to Everest Basecamp; the trip was a life-long ambition of Philippa’s and a huge challenge for Susannah who suffers with Ankylosing spondylitis.
Well, we’re pleased to report that, not only did the pair make the trek successfully, but they absolutely smashed their fund-raising target by 325%, collecting an outstanding £650 for the team!
They recently popped down to the team’s base in Hayfield to meet us and to see where their money would be spent.
Kinder MRT is manned entirely by unpaid volunteers providing a 24/7/365 service to help those in difficulty in wild and remote places. The majority of the team’s annual running costs of approximately £25K to £30K are generated by the incredible generosity of members of the public such as Susannah and Philippa, or by fund-raising activities by team members and supporters.
Consequently, every penny donated to the couple’s JustGiving page will go directly to supporting the team. So, from all the team, thank you ladies for your support and generosity.
If you would like to donate to the team, you can donate directly by visiting our web-site at http://www.kmrt.org.uk/fundraising/other-ways-to-give/ or, by texting KMRT40 £2 to 70070, you donate £2 to our team (or any other amount you wish to insert).
