From Everest Basecamp to Hayfield ….

Following a successful trek to Everest Basecamp, raising an outstanding £650 for the team in the process, local adventurers Susannah and Philippa visited the team’s base in Hayfield to meet us and to see where their money would be spent.

In memory of Ken Beetham

On Sunday 19 February 2017, the team welcomed family and friends of the late Ken Beetham to the base. Ken’s daughter presented a cheque for £900 to the team’s Chairman and the guests then toured the base. Many thanks to all for their generosity.

Mountain Rescue not affected by National Park funding cuts

Following recent media coverage of funding cuts to National Parks’ budgets, Kinder Mountain Rescue Team would like to reassure the public that this will have no effect whatsoever on the service it provides. The team, manned entirely by volunteers giving up their free time to turn-out 365 days of the year to help those in need, to undertake essential training and to fund raise, is able to continue to operate due to the generosity of the public; the team would like to thank those who have donated to them or to the wider Mountain Rescue organisation.

Santa Dash 2016 – event report

Sunday 4 December 2016 – the annual Hayfield Santa Dash, organised jointly by The Hayfield May Queen Committee and Kinder Mountain Rescue Team, took place under (nearly) ideal conditions; dry underfoot, several Santas, no injuries and only one lost runner who turned up at the finish line shortly after – a grand day out.

First in was Damien Kilpin in an amazing time of 31 minutes and 31 seconds for the 6.5 km loop. Hot on his heels was the first lady, Kate Davies in 25 minutes 24 seconds.

The under 16’s dash was won by Andrew McDonald in 7 minutes and 10 seconds and the first girl in was Amelia Aldridge in 9 minutes 45 seconds.

Next year’s race scheduled for Sunday 3rd December – put it in your diary NOW and tell all your (running) friends.
