On Sunday 19 February 2017, the team welcomed family and friends of the late Ken Beetham to the base. Ken’s daughter presented a cheque for £900 to the team’s Chairman and the guests then toured the base. Many thanks to all for their generosity.
Variety performance evening in memory of Ken Blakeman, Mountain Rescue team member of over 40 years, to be held at the Dancehouse Theatre, Manchester, on Sunday 26 February 2017. Proceeds will be donated to Kinder Mountain Rescue Team to help with their annual running costs.
Team welcomes local runner Michelle Ryan to base to thank her for raising £2300 for the team during 2015 and 2016.
Following recent media coverage of funding cuts to National Parks’ budgets, Kinder Mountain Rescue Team would like to reassure the public that this will have no effect whatsoever on the service it provides. The team, manned entirely by volunteers giving up their free time to turn-out 365 days of the year to help those in need, to undertake essential training and to fund raise, is able to continue to operate due to the generosity of the public; the team would like to thank those who have donated to them or to the wider Mountain Rescue organisation.
Friday 16 December, the Kinder MRT Carol Singers entertain the crowds in Hayfield and serenade a celebrity! A fantastic night and over £200 raised to help with the Team’s running costs.
Sunday 4 December 2016 – the annual Hayfield Santa Dash, organised jointly by The Hayfield May Queen Committee and Kinder Mountain Rescue Team, took place under (nearly) ideal conditions; dry underfoot, several Santas, no injuries and only one lost runner who turned up at the finish line shortly after – a grand day out.
First in was Damien Kilpin in an amazing time of 31 minutes and 31 seconds for the 6.5 km loop. Hot on his heels was the first lady, Kate Davies in 25 minutes 24 seconds.
The under 16’s dash was won by Andrew McDonald in 7 minutes and 10 seconds and the first girl in was Amelia Aldridge in 9 minutes 45 seconds.

On Saturday 6 October, New Mills Golf Club very generously held an evening of entertainment in support of Kinder MRT and in memory of Ken Blakeman.
Little Hayfield resident Andy Jones has single-handedly raised a staggering £2061 for the Team by taking on the challenge of walking the GR20 trail in Corsica over the summer.
Sat 17th and Sun 18th September 2016 saw the sun shining kindly on the annual Hayfield Country Show & Sheep Dog Trials.
The staff over at Peakdale Molecular in Chapel-en-le-Frith have been busy fund-raising for our team – reaching an amazing £614.75
Thank you to all the staff who gave of their time organising and donating, it’s very much appreciated and the money raised will certainly be well used by the team.
