NWAS attended a lady who had been thrown from a horse resulting in severe lower back pain and bruising. NWAS had accessed the casualty in the stable yard but were unable to safely/comfortably move her from an upright position leaning against a stable door. KMRT provided its specialised equipment in the form of a vacuum mattress to rigidly support the casualty in her upright position, then provided sufficient manpower to safely lift and lower the cas onto NWAS stretcher then to the waiting ambulance.

16: Callout 28th April 2016

The team were called to assist a female walker who had slipped and sustained a fractured leg. Having made contact and establishing their position, parties made their way to the casualty’s location. Due to low initial numbers, support was also requested from Glossop MRT. A request was made for a HELIMED to evacuate the injured lady but due to the inclement weather it was unable to attend. The lady was then carried by stretcher to a waiting ambulance at Tom Heys Farm before being taken to Stepping Hill Hospital.
