We responded to a call because of the possible breach of Todbrook reservoir in Whaley Bridge. The dam wall was in danger of failure and the environment agency had issued a red, threat to life, flood warning. With other MRTs and many other agencies we worked to secure the dam wall, including rigging rope work to allow safer operation and deployment of sand bags. Water teams located in New Mills and Furness Vale ready to respond in the event of a dam wall failure.
This was a massive, multi-agency operation with assets from across the UK responding.
As of Friday 2nd August, the team remain on standby and the operation is ongoing.
