45: Callout Monday 29th December 2014
- Type – Injured walker
- Location – Tunstead Clough
- Team Members – 25 KMRT and Glossop MRT
- Duration – 1 3/4 hours or 43.75 volunteer man hours
- Volunteer Man Hours for year so far – 1640.25
Our team doctor, whilst off out walking with his family, came across an injured walker. He assessed his condition and decided he needed hospital care, so he rang the team to request a carry off. Due to the low numbers over the holiday period, Glossop were requested to assist and the chap was carried to a road before being transferred to hospital in Glossop’s team vehicle.
The next day, we got this from our casualty:
“To Olly, Ryan, Darren and the rest of the team who warmed me up, drugged me, strapped me in, lifted me, carried me and drove me to hospital last night, I just want to say a massive thanks. Pure providence that you were but 200 metres (or so) away from us Olly, an absolute godsend. It was a privilege seeing you guys work, even though, if I was to see you all in action again, I hope not to be centre of attention.”
It’s always nice to hear from our customers and how they got on.
This proved to be the last callout of the year for us. Roll on 2015, hopefully a safe one for everyone who visits and loves the mountains.
