Incident 17 – 20th March 2014 2000hrs
The car of a missing vulnerable female was located in Edale prompting concerns for her welfare. A search was organised of the Edale Valley and skyline involving Edale MRT, Buxton MRT and SARDA. As the evening progressed we also asked for the assistance of the RAF who obliged by sending Rescue 122. With the search tasks drawing a blank we began recalling team members off the hill with a view to recommencing the search in daylight. Whilst dropping down off the hill in the early hours of the morning a team member spotted a light on the southern edges and we were able to turn Rescue 122 around from its flight home and direct it in to the area of the light. The crew located the missing person and were able to land to take her on to the aircraft and then fly her to hospital for a check up. The last team members were off the hill for 0430hrs.
